Even the largest of bikes is smaller and harder to spot than the smallest of cars. Making matters worse, people who only drive cars often don’t understand what it is like to be a motorcyclist.
Motorcycle crashes involving another vehicle most often happen because drivers haven't seen them.. It's like you're invisible.
This is unlikely to improve. Thicker windscreen pillars might improve modern cars’ crash safety but they generate bigger blind spots. And increasing number of taller 4WDs and commercials make it harder to see, and be seen, across traffic.
