Back to the round

Our friend Fergus Maynes hasn't had a lot of luck on his 'Bonny to Bonneville' odyssey.
To cheer himself up, he accepted the kind invitation of Aprilia New Zealand to run his RS250 at their recent trackday.

If you're wondering where the updates of Ferg's Bonny to Bonneville quest have gone, the sad fact is that the bike is stuck in the UK awaiting attention. And the prospects of running it at Bonneville in 2020 seem remote.

Ferg is looking at other categories to run in, perhaps using his rare Kawasaki KR150, and in the meantime has been getting the other bikes in his garage up to snuff, including an Aprilia RS 250.

Marketing boss at Aprilia and Triumph, Mike Cross, recently extended an invitation to attend an Aprilia owner's track day at Hampton Downs and we went along for the the ride.

As well as revelling in the presence of scores of italian exotica and circulating the wonderful HD circuit, Aprilia NZ laid it all on for owners. Clothing and gear bargains; the last available brand-new Caponord 1200 in New Zealand (read just how good that bike is here); track photography, even laying on lunch; they sure do look after their customers.
