Looking after cables, levers and stands
Everything is exposed to the elements on a motorcycle, so you need to keep a watch on moving parts.
Every month, check:
- Clutch cable slack. Adjust, clean and lubricate if necessary
- Position and action of the brake and clutch levers. Are they exactly where you want them? Adjust if necessary and ensure knurled adjusters are working smoothly.
At the same time, clean and re-grease:
- The side stand pivot
- If you have a centre stand, both pivot points.
Remember
Looking after the basic maintenance on your motorcycle is also the opportunity to check everything over visually and make sure nothing is about to fail.
